Teacher Talk is an evidence-based programme which covers key principles and core strategies to help all children in your setting build language and social skills, no matter what their learning and communication styles are.
The programme is run by Hanen-certified Speech and Language Therapists who work within the Caerphilly Early Years team.
The programme will show you how to use everyday conversations, play and daily routines to promote the communication and social development of all children. Each strategy is designed to engage and maintain the interest of the children, making language and learning a fun and natural part of their day.
The programme is a mixture of virtual group information sessions and face-to-face 1:1 sessions in your setting, which gives you an opportunity to practise and discuss strategies with the trainer.
Using the Teacher Talk approach ensures that every child in your setting has the best opportunity to develop their language. Language is well evidenced as being crucial for wellbeing and later-life outcomes. Teacher Talk strategies are beneficial for every child in your setting, including:

Please be aware the setting visits will require you to interact with children and reflect on this as part of learning. It will be your responsibility to establish consent for the children to be recorded for the purposes of staff training. Recordings are not kept and are deleted before the end of the 1:1 visit.
