Our best place is face to face

The Early Language Team are introducing a Talk With Me message of the month and up first is ‘Our best place is face to face’.

If you are with a child, the best place to be is at their level (even if this means lying on the floor!) so you can see each other’s faces.

This means you can:

• See each other’s facial expressions
• See what the child is interested in and give the right words to match what they can see/are doing
• The child can watch your mouth to see how you make the sounds in words

Why not try to be face to face for 5 extra minutes a day and see how much it changes your interactions!
